The Long Beach "Stitch'N'Chicks" Crafting Club began July 15, 2006, formally from Meet-up.com, to meet other avid knitters/crocheters and crafters and make new friends having fun with a variety of events and field trips. There were only two members at the beginning. The by-laws were developed along with the
"Stitch n' Chicks" name. One of our past members designed our logo about 6 months later, which has since been updated, 2012, to include representation of all crafts.
Today we are still a small friendly, comfortable, ladies crafting social club always welcoming new members with all levels of experience in crafting knitting/crocheting and quilting.
We began the group with a "club" atmosphere and added in many different fun social events during the year. Some events include field trips, parties, and yarn crawls. We always enjoy learning from each other, chatting, laughing, and munching. It has been suggested we change the name to "Snacking Chicks" since we are always including a lunch, dinner, or some kind of food around most of our events. [lol]
Since we are a club, we do charge an annual dues of $60.00. [$2.50 a meeting] This is paid 1/2 in January and 1/2 in June. These funds are used to supplement some of our parties, events, our annual Anniversary Awards luncheon, our Website, and other expenses. We are a very active club and other club expenses may be needed from time to time for our events and trips.
As we have grown, so has our desire to venture out on Retreats, field trips and any other fun outings we may wish to explore. We have several annual events like our Retreat, picnic, craft fairs, visiting the Christmas lights, an Awards Anniversary luncheon, and a trip to the County Fairs. We have entered our items in the LA Fair and Orange County Needle-craft Competition, too. We do enjoy our outings!
We currently meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at
5:30 pm - 8:30pm. Our meeting location varies between [3] restaurants, Cobian's, Farmer Boys, Stonefire Grill and The Stand.
Stitch n' Chicks gets together to have a creative, comfortable atmosphere for learning and promoting our crafting skills. We cater to our club members' artistic and creative interests by gathering feedback and requests for future crafting by providing constructive crafts "outside the box" of our normal crafting abilities. This along with acquiring new lifelong "crafting" friendships hooking us together with a common thread is one of our inspirations.
Contact us on the "Contact Page" for an invitation to join in on the fun and be prepared to have a "craftastic" evening with other "needled to death" craftsters.
Our Mission Statement: The purpose of the Stitch n' Chicks craft club is to provide a creative comfortable atmosphere for our members; giving them a relaxing, fun, learning and friendly place to explore their crafting skills; while making lifelong crafting friends. The Stitch n' Chicks Crafting Club will cater to our club members artistic and creative interests by gathering their feedback and requests for future crafts and activities. The Stitch n' Chicks Crafting Club will submit members crafts to local competition fairs for "Show & Tell" inspirations; showing off our crafting masterpieces. The Stitch n' Chicks Crafting Club will reach out to local community nursing homes and the "Snuggles Project" animal blankets for our annual charity craft donations
