Club Projects & Crafting Projects
2007-2022
|
Below are some of our yearly "Club Projects" & Other Crafting Projects
SnC does a different project each year, sometimes for fun; sometimes for charity; sometimes as a group; and sometimes we each make one of our own. We start our projects in the February and work on them through the year to September and bring them to our October party for a contest. They are fun and create club excitement and challenges to all members who participate.
Our other craft projects are taught by members at our annual "Crafting Parties" and on our "Casual Craft Evenings." Crafting fun is teaching us all how to experiment different crafting projects we wouldn't normally do. Its fun, informative and "crafty."

2015 Roll of the Dice Project
The "Roll of the Dice Afghan" project starts at the Feb 5th meeting when we meet and will begin rolling the dice. [Debb will bring] The project will end the last meeting in Sept [Sept 17th] and will be due at the the 1st Nov meeting. [Nov 5th] That will give each member approximately 6 weeks to put the finishing touches on your afghan before bring to show it off. [see finishing for some ideas]
We will be rolling our dice over the next 8 months for a total of “16” rolls. Each member will have different numbers to work for each row. You may end up with a large afghan or a smaller Lap-ghan size depending on your rolls.
Starting your “Club Projects”:
Everyone will do 2 rows of SC to start your afghan.
1. Roll the dice (die)! Whatever the number says is the color you will use [1-5] if you roll a [6] you can choose the color to do next
2. Roll the dice to see what stitch you will be using. Look at the chart to match the numbers with the stitches, if you roll a [12] you can choose any stitch to use next.
3. Roll the dice to see how many rows you will do with this stitch. If you roll a [12] double the rows.
Remember have fun with this “Club Project”!
Finishing
Have fun!
Stitches Chart:
Use 2 dice:
The best fancy stitch guide: you will need to translate this, but your computer should do that for you. If not let me know which stitch you want a copy of in English and I can copy one for you. J

How to Change Colors: [cc]
Draw new color through the two loops on hook. Drop working color and continue to work in the new color. This method can be used when change of color is at the end of a row or within the row.
How to do the Front Post dc Stitch [fpdc]
1. Work a row of normal double crochet (dc) for the first row and turn.
Follow the standard procedure for creating a row.
2 Chain (ch) 2 for your first double crochet.
Because a post stitch is shorter than a normal stitch, you make the turning chain with one chain stitch less than the normal turning chain requires.
3 Yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.
The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.
4 Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.
You now have 3 loops on the hook.
5 Yarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
One front post double crochet (FP dc) is complete.
Lark’s Foot Stitch
“Larksfoot Stitch” is a decorative pattern worked over 4 rows.

We will be rolling our dice over the next 8 months for a total of “16” rolls. Each member will have different numbers to work for each row. You may end up with a large afghan or a smaller Lap-ghan size depending on your rolls.
- Pick out any type/weight/colors yarn in 5 colors
- think about matching as you will be alternating these colors so they will all probably end up beside each other
- get a journal to keep tract of all your dice rolls; ie.. your next stitches, colors, and number of rows to do.
- bring your journals to every meeting [can be purchased at the $1 store]
- if you miss a meeting you will roll [2] times at the next meeting, please do not skip ahead of the rest of the group as this is to be worked as a "club project" together.
- If you do not crochet we can adjust the stitches to include knitting
- work on your projects at your leisure, but everyone will start together at the Feb 5th meeting
- This pattern is worked by chance of the Die
- The stripes in the afghan should run vertical instead of the traditional horizontal
- Number your yarn colors, BE SURE TO WRITE THIS DOWN, like [1, 2, 3, ect..] when you roll the 1st dice at each meeting that number will determined as to what color you will use next
- Next you will row the dice to see the number of rows you will be crocheting with that color
- Lastly you will roll to determine the stitch you will use. Follow the chart.
Starting your “Club Projects”:
- Start with your beginning color [your choice] and chain 164… sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, and sc across. Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st sc, and sc across.
- Stop and follow the “Club Project” crochet directions to see what you will be doing next.
Everyone will do 2 rows of SC to start your afghan.

Finishing
- You can use all of the ends left over to do a multi colored single chain all the way around the blanket, making sure to put 3 sc in each corner for ease. Then use your left over black to do a dc round or ½ dc round, finish with a reverse sc stitch.
- Or, if you want you can edge your afghan any way you wish to give it your “personal crochet touch” as a finished look.
Have fun!

Club Project 2012:
The club voted at the April 5th meeting to do a "RR" project, starting at the May 3rd meeting and ending at the October 25th Party.
*********************************************
- Pick your project [can be anything that can be worked on easily remember you are passing this to the whole group]
- DO NOT pick a project that has difficult stitching, the stitches should be the choice of the member doing it.
- It can be a scarf, hat, shawl, or lap-ghan [something that is straight and easy]
- Stitch 6-12 beginning rows at home or at the Mat 3rd meeting
- You will be passing it on to another member at that meeting and you will get another member's project
- Be sure to put your project in a bag [gift bag, grocery fabric bag works good]
- Add a notebook and start off with your project details, what you're thinking, the date, your name, email, and phone # in case a member needs to contact you concerning the project.
- When the "RR" ends your project will return back to you
- Have fun!
